Well considering the 58X isn't out yet there really isn't much to compare. Prefer 6xx for music and 58x for gaming. Both are awesome headphones, and contrary to popular belief, HD6XX it's not so hard to drive, unless you want your ears to bleed. I think it's a toss-up between the two (I own both) that ends up being just personal preference. Is the HD6XX significantly better? 6XX it's not a bad deal by any means, but it's like an acquired taste, while the 58X it's fun since the beginning. I would definitely take out the foam, for looks if nothing else. What would be your recommendation for classical (especially piano, orchestra) and jazz? For me the 58x is a lot better than the 6xx. And it’s priced in between those two. Archived. Personally, I don’t think you could ever go wrong with the 58X, though I’ve never heard the 6XX. I really loved the extra bass on the 58x but found them noticeably more fatiguing than the 6xx for long listening/study sessions. Also, I took all of the foam out of the 58x.
